Tryouts

Swimmers will be able to join the Aquaflyers only after they have participated in a team tryout.  Tryouts are held every September and April.

Tryouts for September 2011 have already been completed.

Learn-to-Swim

The focus of the Learn-to-Swim program, run for the first time in 2006/2007, is to teach younger children who are comfortable in the water how to swim freestyle (crawl) and backstroke.

The goal of this program is to teach the children proper technique, and to prepare them to move up to the Recreational groups.

Swimmers in this group will be able to compete in intramural meets when they are ready to do so.

Recreational Teams

Minnows are the next step after completion of the Learn-to-Swim program.  Minnows will further their development in freestyle and backstroke and begin to be introduced to breaststroke, butterfly, starts and turns.

Dolphins (ages 8 & under) and Marlins (ages 9 & up) - the focus for swimmers in these groups is on skill development and learning to swim all four competitive swimming strokes correctly and efficiently.  Recreational team practice practice for one hour three times each week.

Swimmers will be afforded the opportunity (and encouraged to participate in) intramural swim meets to gauge their progress as well as have fun in a low-key competitive setting.

The ultimate goal of these two groups is to prepare the swimmers to move up to the Competitive program.
