Coach Rich's Report on Long Course Regional Championships

Regional championships was a huge success for our team!!! Everyone who swam at Regionals had personal best times. There were a total of 58 swims over the weekend and 47 of the 58 were personal best times. Plus 52 of the 58 swims were season best times. I am happy to say that everyone who participated had at least one swim and in most cases more then one swim in which they dropped 5 sec or more off their time. I am very proud of all the swimmers and you should pat them all on the back for a job well done.

Erica MacSwan was Regional Champion in the 100 breast and qualified for Age Groups in 100 breast and 200 back. She was also extremely close in the 100 back.

Ryan Murphy was also a Regional Champion in the 200 free and qualified for Age Groups in the 200 free, 100 free, and 400 free.

Emily MacSwan also gets the Iron Man (woman) award for Swimming the 400 Free, 800 Free and 1500 free all with personal best times.

Once again Congratulations to all the swimmers on a fantastic job this weekend.

Coach Rich's Report on Long Course Age Group Championships

Age Groups went extremely well this weekend. We had five swimmers compete in 18 events and 13 events were swam for best times.

Ryan Murphy swam the 50 back (dropped 3 sec) 37.75 and placed 14th overall. He also swam the 100 Free dropped 2 sec), 200 Free, 400 Free (dropped 9 sec) 5:25.62, and the 100 back (dropped 4 sec) 1:22.28.

Erica MacSwan: Made it back for finals in both 100breast (14th overall) and 200breast (11th overall) both faster then she swam in preliminaries. In her 200breast she dropped 4 sec from her best time in preliminaries and came back to finals and dropped another 2 sec. She also Dropped 2sec off her lifetime best time in the 200back.

John Rossi: Swam the 200 free on Sunday and dropped 2 sec off his best long course meters time. This is especially impressive because on Saturday he swam 4 miles across the Long Island Sound (a swim to raise money for cancer).

Tommy Depaoli: Swam the 100fly in 1:03.05 in finals to make the Zone Cut off time which is about a second faster then he swam in preliminaries in the morning.  When you make a Zone cut-off time you can represent the Connecticut swimming team at the Eastern Zone Swim Meet. In the 200 fly Tommy dropped 9 sec at preliminaries in the morning and another 2 sec at finals and place 7th overall. He also swam the 100 free, 100 back, 200 back (dropped 2 sec) and 100 breast (dropped 2 sec).

Tim Krompinger: Swam the 200 back for a season best time and place 8th overall. He place 16th in the 100 fly, 17th in the 100 breast and 22nd in the 100 back.  The only events he didn't make finals in was the 100 back and 100 free. He made finals in the 3 events he swam Sunday but didn't come back to finals because he had to work.

It was a Fantastic weekend and a great long course season. Congratulations to all the swimmers, if I don't see you this week at practice I will see you in the fall! Well except for Tim Krompinger and Sarah Walker who will both be swimming at Division 1 swim teams in college.

Thanks Again for a great Season,

Rich

    30 Top Foods for Swimmers

Rich's Wish List

1. All swimmers realized that they can achieve their potential through dedication and practice.

2. All swimmers realized that they are only limited by their technique and knowledge of strokes.

3. All swimmers realized that they are athletes and must act like one; took CARE of their bodies (ate colorful carbohydrates such as fruits and vegetables). Drank water through out the day. Never showed up to practice on an empty stomach and always remembered to fill up after practice.

4. If a swimmer had a question, the swimmer and not the parent asked the coach.
